Roofing Contractors in Revere, MA
One city, one ZIP code, and the Atlantic on the doorstep. Salt works into fasteners, onshore wind finds edge metal, and the flat decks near the beach hold water. We roof 02151 with the right metal in the right places.

Revere is one city under one ZIP code, and the ocean sets the terms. Everything in 02151 sits within a couple of miles of open water. Salt works into fasteners. Onshore wind gets under edge metal and lifts it.
The stock splits three ways. Beachmont, Shirley Avenue and Crescent Beach are 1900 to 1940 two- and three-families, mostly flat or low-slope, built shoulder to shoulder. Point of Pines and Oak Island are winterized beach cottages that grew a second story. West Revere and Riverside are post-war capes and ranches.
Paulo walks the roof and writes the estimate himself. On a Revere job the number turns on what salt has done to your flashing and how much sheathing went soft under the last overlay. Neither shows from the driveway, so it starts with a real roof inspection.

Salt air is a materials decision
Point of Pines, Crescent Beach, Beachmont and the Revere Beach frontage sit inside the roughly 3,000-foot band where FEMA coastal guidance calls for 300-series stainless fasteners. Hot-dipped galvanized is the minimum anywhere in 02151. Copper nails for cedar and slate - and never copper flashing with galvanized nails, because the two metals eat each other. More in our notes on coastal roofing and salt air.
Metal earns its keep here: fewer joints, a factory finish, no granules to lose. On metal roofing, the clip and fastener metallurgy matters more than the panel profile.
Wind at the beach edge
Under 780 CMR the windborne debris region covers hurricane-prone areas within one mile of the coastal mean high-water line where design wind speed reaches 130 mph. Much of eastern Revere is in it. That changes the edges more than the shingle. Six nails instead of four. Starter strip up the rake, not just the eave. A continuous cleat under the drip edge.
The Blizzard of 1978 is not ancient history here: 27 inches, gusts to 111 mph, seawater running through the streets. When the next one lands, storm damage roof repair starts with a tarp before the second night of rain.
Flat decks from Shirley Avenue to Beachmont
The beach-side two- and three-families carry flat roofs behind a parapet with party walls on both sides. They fail in three places: perimeter edge metal, old lap seams, and a scupper nobody has cleared since the last owner. We strip to sound sheathing, build pitch toward the outlet where the framing allows, and run fully adhered EPDM or heat-welded TPO. Flat roof replacement here is about the edge as much as the field.
Capes in West Revere and Riverside
Three miles inland, a different problem. A story-and-a-half Cape puts bedrooms directly under the deck with almost no eave ventilation, the single biggest ice-dam generator in the region. Design ground snow load in Revere is 40 psf, verified from the 780 CMR Eighth Edition table. Every asphalt reroof we do carries an ice barrier at least 24 inches inside the exterior wall line, and 36 inches along the slope at 8:12 or steeper. The fix is attic ventilation and insulation, not heat cable.
Permits and cost
Revere issues its own permits. A reroof with no structural work goes through the City of Revere building department, and we file it. Never pull a homeowner permit so a crew can skip the paperwork. We are licensed and insured in Massachusetts.
Cost turns on square footage, bad sheathing, whether the flat deck is in scope, and whether the job needs stainless throughout. We put it in writing after we walk it. See our breakdown of roof replacement cost in Boston, and just over the line we also cover roofing in Chelsea and East Boston roof repair.

Revere Specifics
What makes roofs in Revere different
Every town in this market has its own failure modes. These are the ones we see here.
Salt in every fastener
Within 3,000 feet of saltwater, ordinary nails are a countdown. Stainless near the shore, hot-dipped galvanized as the floor everywhere else.
Uplift at the rake and eave
Onshore wind attacks the edges, not the middle. Most beach-area failures start with face-nailed drip edge and no starter course run up the rake.
Flat decks with no real pitch
A 1920s flat was framed near level and has settled since. Water stands for days. We build pitch back to the outlet with tapered insulation.
Low ground along Rumney Marsh
Oak Island and Riverside sit low. The ground stays wet, staging sinks, and downspouts have nowhere to send water. We plan the discharge runs around that.
Cottages that grew in stages
Point of Pines is full of summer cottages winterized one addition at a time. Three roof planes framed in three decades, joined with roof cement.

FAQ
Roofing questions from Revere homeowners
Near the water, yes. FEMA guidance draws the line around 3,000 feet from saltwater, which covers Point of Pines, Beachmont, Crescent Beach and the boulevard. Farther inland in West Revere, hot-dipped galvanized is reasonable.
Revere. The city runs its own building department, and a straight reroof is a standard building permit there. Boston's short-form process and fee schedule do not apply on this side of the line. We pull it and file the insurance and workers' comp paperwork.
Wind-driven water travels sideways and uphill. In a summer downpour it runs off the way the roof intends. In a 50 mph onshore blow it gets pushed under the shingle butts and past the edge metal. That points at flashing, not the field.
