PVC Roofing

PVC Flat Roofing Systems

Commercial and industrial buildings generally have flat roofs. In flat roofing, the three main types of single-ply systems are EPDM, TPO and PVC roofing membrane. Out of these three, a PVC flat roofing system provides the most extended lifespan, with upwards of twenty years! This durability is just one of the many benefits of PVC roofing membranes.

What is PVC Roofing?

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is a single-ply roofing membrane used on flat roofs and low sloped roofs for over 50 years. A PVC roofing membrane is made up of two layers, and polyester scrim is added between the two layers to provide support and flexibility among other benefits.

Main Benefits

  • Durability is one of PVC roofing’s best advantages. A PVC roofing membrane is incredibly strong due to heat-welded seams which create a watertight bond, giving the roof permanence. It’s because of this remarkably strong bond that PVC deck seams do not need to rely on adhesives, tapes or caulks to seal, unlike other types of roofing systems.
  • Waterproof roof is one of the results of being extremely durable, making a proper PVC roofing system such as Duro-Last, leak-free to protect your building from devastating water damage.
  • PVC roofs are Environmentally Friendly due to their high solar reflectiveness. By reflecting up to 86% of the sun’s rays, less energy is used to cool your building and as a result, can save you money on your electric bills. Also, PVC material such as Duro-Last is 100% recyclable, thus making it an even more eco-friendly roofing solution.
  • Wind Resistance is another one of the significant benefits of PVC roofing thanks to its welded seams. PVC roofs are so wind resistant that they have held up in Category 3 hurricanes. Most definitely, if your building is in an area that experiences intense winds, a PVC roof is a smart choice.
  • A PVC roof’s Fire Resistance makes it exceptionally safer than other roof types. PVC is highly fire resistant to oxidation reactions, making it very hard to ignite.
  • The Chemical Resistance of PVC membranes is another substantial benefit. PVC roofing being chemical resistant will provide additional peace of mind, knowing your roof will hold up against harsh chemical exposure and conditions.
